Artist Statements Spring 2007
My work is aesthetic exploration with stream-of-consciousness image evolution that addresses the fractal and kinesthetic nature of universe. Every painting's foundation is a collaboration of organic visual textures, spaces, warped-patterns and lines intuitively organized.
The piece develops as an intimate dialog between myself, the medium and the surface. I am in constant reaction to the altering visual circumstance on the canvas: an ongoing visual creative process.
The transforming imagery is my working reinterpretation of the environment as it changes, a visual map of my creative process. The imagery follows no set laws – like our dreams it is the product of imagination, intuition and memory without the intrusion of the laws of reality. Characters and objects grow seamlessly from their surroundings. Narratives develop accidentally, and each viewers' private readings of such is unique. I am exited to discover and realize the final product of the experiment that is each painting.
